SM465 shift knob

Does anyone know where I could find a SM465 shift knob? Ebay has not been a good source unfortunately.

Re: SM465 shift knob

I see a whole SM465 shifter set up with knob on ebay, and some Hurst shifters with the same shift pattern (except with "1" in place of "L".)

Re: SM465 shift knob

I may have one sitting around somewhere here for you. It's worn out and no shift pattern on top

Thanks, Insidious. It's going on my resto though, I'm trying to find one in about "B" to B+" condition.

Re: SM465 shift knob

Not sure if it's the same knob for your model year, but I used a new T Case shifter knob on my MY6 trans and then installed my old shift pattern into the new knob. Had to re-tap the threads from coarse thread to fine thread.

Now, you might suspect that the shift ball for this "odd ball" was probably not available, and you'd be right. However, if you were me, you'd figure that the manual transfer case shift ball was probably identical and would work in this application. So, I ordered one up:

Pretty much exactly the same! After about 30 seconds of work, you can pop the indicator out of the old knob and slip it into the new knob and VIOLA!: new shift ball!

And here we are, back in business:

Total time investment: about 15 minutes; dollar investment of about $3.00 (for shipping).

Re: SM465 shift knob

Yeah, my 465 shift knob came apart too. It was a smooth finish almost like an 8 ball, and instead of a disc, the logo was underneath the cover.

My cover broke apart years ago. Still have a ball there but no shift patter on it.

I've never seen an original looking replacment, have searched quite a few times.
