Does tranny & TC have vents?

May sound like a stupid question but since I've never had either out of the truck.........? Does the transfer case or 4 speed tranny have vents for them? Like the front and rear differentials. And if they do, can anyone tell me where to find them and if they are able to be reached?

Changed fluids for both about 4 months ago........the TC looks just like when I put it in, honey colored........the tranny fluid looks much darker so I was wondering if a missing vent might be contaminating it. Used same 80W-90 Valvoline syn blend in both. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Here's a link to a pic of the vents on my SM465 and Rockwell T221 - I circled the vents.

Thanks for the picture!!! Very nice............That wasn't what I had envisioned they would look like but......Do those just screw out? Both of my cases are pretty much covered in crud so I'll have to really get after it. In case I need one, are those vents readily available and from where, if by chance you know? Thanks again.

Most of those type of vents that I have seen are just pressed in. If you want to plumb them to a higher location, you need to tap the holes with an NPT tap.

My NP 203 has a short tube with a one way valve on the top. It is probably about 4" long.
