700r4 detent cable on a rockchester one barrel

I am about to hook up my 700r4 to my 250 straight 6 , the cable is the only thing that's been hard . Before I explain my idea I was wondering if anyone else has succeeded in hooking the cable to a stock one barrel carb ?Mine is a hard thing to do because the movement is backwards on this carb compared to other applications , so anybody done this ?Oh and please don't make fun of the 6 its the original and has 25000 miles on it ,I thought if I could get her up to 70 and only wrap 2000 rpms it would be cool for a while till I decide if I want more motor or not. Its got a 3;73 posi and its a 2wd c10 1968 long bed step side.

Re: 700r4 detent cable on a rockchester one barrel

I've got a 200 4r in mine with a 250 inline 6. I never found a good way to hook my TV cable up, so mine is rigged....It works, but it is not pretty. I love it though. I also have 3.73 rear, and at 70mph, I can hardly hear it running. I don't have my lockup connected either, which some of the experts say this is wrong, but I've driven mine hard for 2 years, and never had a problem. Here are some pics. I welded a tab to my accelerator arm and put the round brass cable stop on the cable, and the welded tab pulls against the brass piece. I also fabbed a bracket up to hold the TV cable, and bolted it to the manifold.

Here is how I did mine on my 64 chevelle it has a drive by wire ls engine , so I hooked it to the pedal with a roller up top , works great ,,, mag c10s looks to be a clean an efficient way also

I made a bracket similar on the valve cover, mines uglier yet , having trouble with finding the correct starter now. What does yours have ?I am really wanting to go top end it and see what it does .

Oh no I just looked at the starter again and the flywheels so big I think it'll have to be changed to a smaller diameter one . Its a 14'' and its like so close to the bell on the tranny I don't think any starter will fit ,**** !

Re: 700r4 detent cable on a rockchester one barrel

This is the way I'm headed:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=638139

I need to build a new bracket, but after seeing where I was and with some good help, I think my next try is going to work. Now, I turned my carbs 180, so the linkage is on the outside, so I'll have to fab some more stuff once I get my body back on, but that don't seem like too much trouble.

Re: 700r4 detent cable on a rockchester one barrel

All i can say is one its not a detent cable but a tv cable that controls the line pressures from the pump if it is not setup right the trans will burn out in less the a mile.
