Backspace question

Is the 15" rim the only issue with backspacing and an ECE 2.5 spindle? I'm curious if the bigger size rims will work fine without modifying the spindles. I.E Tierod boss in spindle as they are hitting my wheel now, along with the A-ARM. I already modified the a-arm gutter for clearance but the tierod spindle is still hitting the rim. Is it the diameter of the larger rims that makes them ok? Even if they have a bigger backspace wouldnt there still be interference issues? Or no, since everything tucks back in the wheel?

Re: Backspace question

Larger diameter wheels will help.
But it sounds like you have too much backspacing on your current 15" wheels.

Re: Backspace question

This 15" wheel has a 4" backspace.
This is the max in my opinion.

Your only choice is to grind some clearance on the spindle or change wheels.
Do you have any pics of the problem area?

Re: Backspace question

Thanks lolife! Ur always a great help. I don't have any pics at the moment. I'm just trying to understand if larger diameter wheels have more backspace than what i had (6.5 rally) then how can the spindle fit OK? I'm looking at the ridler20x8.5 with 4.5 bs and 20x10 5.5 bs. So if the ridler wheels have as much if not more backspace then what I had, how do the larger wheels work? They simply tuckin the wheel?

Re: Backspace question

Larger diameter 20'' wheels will clear the tie rods.
