Bump steering
Ok first I want to say It was great meeting Smitty this past week on the HRPT in Norwalk! Fantastic truck to!
I don't want a full on road course truck but I want it to handle good on the road. The HRPT took it's toll on the front end of the 71 and I'm looking to replace the tie rods and such on it. Does anyone know of any kits other than this one that elimnates the tie rod sleeve. I want a solid adjustable one. They both are loose on the truck after all the dang craters on the roads around Chicago! Running 70MPH and hitting some of the craters in the highway was like hitting a sink hole. http://www.hotchkis.net/tie-rod-sleeves2.html

Re: Bump steering
Since you already ordered it dont much matter but they were the same thread size and what you listed. I have a set of edelbrock ones on my truck and they werent listed as fitting trucks either but they worked fine. Thread size/pitch and length are all that matters really.
Those look pretty nice though. Where did you get them?

I found the ones I bought on Summit's website. I need to order some shocks also. Haven't decided on what to order though yet.

Re: Bump steering
Any thoughts about adding a set of drop spindles and taller springs to the front of your truck?
This would greatly help add suspension travel,... while keeping the same ride height.

Re: Bump steering
Got the new tie rods and adjusting sleeves installed after getting the new tires put on up front today. Had new ones put on before the Hot Rod Power Tour but they where to big and scrubbed the whole time. He replaced them at no cost to me. Still have the new shock mounts and shocks to install when I get them. Ordered them today. Take it tomorrow for a front end alignment.
Those roads up in Il and Wisconsin did a number on the front end.

Re: Bump steering
Looking good. What size tire did you have on tour and what size did you go to?

Butch did the last alignment and it lasted several years so I trust him to get it right.

Re: Bump steering
I got the truck all aligned and finally got the right shocks. They ordered the wrong ones the first time. I got the drivers side done today before work. I ended up going back to the orignal upper shock mounts. The frame mounts I ordered where going to be impossible to get holes drilled are would have to weld them. I just choose to put the orignal shock mounts back on it for now.I have a little mig welder but not the greatest welder and this isn't something I want done half ass.
