Should my 77 have a headlight warning buzzer? I looked at the fuse panel, and all over under the dash, but can't find where one would go. I can't remember what year they started putting them in our trucks....

Most people find them annoying, and remove them. Since all my new trucks have auto headlights, I have gotten used to not paying attention to turning them off.

I just know it's a matter of time before I leave the park lights on, and walk away....

i hear you. when i was younger i removed a few myself, but now a days, well, they remind me to turn off my lights, and apparently i need a reminder. i'll post a pic of my reminder later when i go to put the painted parts in the back yard back on.

It would be nice since I'm positive mine never had a headlight buzzer on it from the factory only the key and seatbelt one. I know who owned the truck before me.

mine doesn't have the key or the seatbelt one either.

i can see where dude cut the seatbelt ones. not a bother since that is the first thing i do before putting it in gear. but the key and light buzzers would be good for me.

I have a 1981 service manual and it shows this circuit.
My guess is that the factory buzzer does not last that long.
I get them from JC Whitney for $6.00 but they only last a few years.

Shows what circuit? I know that my 80 and up trucks have key buzzers and seatbelt buzzers, but these trucks never had headlight buzzers.

Key and seatbelt buzzers are the only buzzers these trucks came with, as far as I know.

JC whitney carrys them. (73UE4756N $7.99). I put one in my 84 suburban when I left my lights on when it was raining in the daytime and drained my battery. Law here to run headlights when raining. Cheaper to put that in than replace battery.

Interior lights, not headlights.

Do they have a buzzer for interior lights too? If I had buzzers for everything I might leave on, my truck would sound like a damn weed eater when I opened the door.

No thank you. Only buzzer I have now is the key in the switch.

These trucks might have never had headlight buzzers as said above but this is out of a service manual......page 8B-6 ;1981 Light Truck manual.

Actually, the headlight warning buzzer was introduced for the 1975 model year. It was coded as option T63 and was available in that initial year for $4.00!

My '79 is equipped with that T63 option, although it no longer works.

Thanks for the part number. Next time I order from www.jcwhitney.com I'm adding the buzzer.

I'm going to have to check for a key and seatbelt buzzer. I know mine has a plug for the seatbelt. I just never heard any buzzer. I've never even heard a buzzer in any of all the trucks I've seen.

The trucks (77-78) came with seatbelt buzzers originally, but it was very common for the buzzers to be deactivated by the dealerships. You can get seatbelt buzzers at www.classicindustries.com for $23.15 (original GM part) item number G10897. There's nothing in there regarding headlight buzzers. This is about the most extensive parts book that I've seen.

Just noticed they must not have had spellcheck back then, headlight is spelled wrong.

Now this is some good info. I plan to add power locks and an alarm with a remote, so I don't need a key buzzer. I guess if I have one now, I would like for it to work though. I always buckle up, so there is no need for a seatbelt buzzer.

The headlight buzzer is another story. All the trucks I drive daily have auto headlights. It has become a habit to ignore the headlight status when I get out.

I like to cruise at dusk with the park lamps on, cause I think it makes the truck look so much better. I just know I will end up getting out and leaving them on since I don't drive the 77 often.

Ken, I agree w/the probability of leaving them on..... I've already done it x 2. Sometimes when I come to work in the am, the sun is up just enough to not need the headlights & I like the way the trucks looks w/just the running lights. But, by the time I get to work, it's light enough that I forget about the parking lights being on as I go into work. Luckily, someone else comes in behind me, so no dead batteries yet.
