Talking 4wd questions

What is the best of the best 4 wheel drives, a chevy or gmc. They're basically the same right? And what is the best axles, i know the Dana 60s,14 bolt, 10 bolt and all thy jazz, but what is the ho52, and any other ones I've missed? Is there a 12 bolt front axle? I'd prefer 6 lug and a half ton spring setup for ride comfort but I'd go with a 3/4.I know the 205 is one heck of a t-case but what is the t-221, NP or What??? Are they hard to find and what kind of parts availability? I've heard some adaptor trouble with the 221, also what do you guys think is the best driveline for a 4wd, I'm thinking hot rod 292,sm465,205, Dana 60 rear, 10 bolt front, lockouts, or 396, sm465,205 and 14 bolt rear, Dana 60 front, lockouts, but then again a big block is for smoking tires, but then again it would a monster, any thoughts or input is appreciated

Re: 4wd questions

HO52 (and HO72) aka Eaton rear diff were used for many years.... tough as nails but getting hard to find some parts for. Many had 4.10 ratio, some 4.56, maybe a couple others but you couldn't get anything that would be considered an acceptable highway ratio. Here's a couple pics from another thread. There's more if you search.

Re: 4wd questions

A lot of questions. First let's start with what you want the truck to do for you?
and what is your budget
