Incredibly complicated braking issue on 94 Blazer (full size)
Hey guys. Ran into the weirdest problem on my full size 94 blazer 4x4 with 105k miles. This is my baby so I keep it maintained. I replaced the booster/master a few months back and at the time they bled the ABS. I have have driven 4,000 miles since then and towed a trailer so I think it is unrelated. Here is what happened. The guy in front of me slammed on his brakes to make an illegal left turn which caused me to hit the breaks HARD! I heard an odd noise like a spring type of noise from under the hood at the same time. The ABS light came on and the truck would go for about 5 seconds and then the gas would cut out for a couple of seconds. It would repeat this cycle. Made the vehicle nearly impossible to drive. I shut the vehicle off and disconnected the battery. Upon start up the light was off but, as soon as I brakes it came back on and the gas would cut out again. In park, neutral and drive with power braking I can give it unlimited gas and it does not cut out. I then removed the brake fuse and I could drive the Blazer and manually shift it from first to second. However as soon as I tried driving it in drive or shifting it to drive it would stay in first gear. Complicated, I know. I hope you guys are still with me. It took a bunch of roadside shenanigans to figure everything out but, I was able to limp it home in second. So, what the hell happened?!
