New to the boards! With a 70 Swb

Been wanting a c10 for a while now and finally got my hands on one i could afford. Since i could afford it, its not much to look at, but that's exactly what i wanted, just something to piddle on. Im 19 years old going to autobody school and learning to weld and all that good stuff so i wanted something i can learn on and do myself. The truck is a 1970 C10 with a inline 6, three speed on the column. I plan on dropping it as much as possible without bags (on a budget, getting married next month) I want to drop it and go the "patina" route. (Who doesnt??) Anyways for now im doing a lot of cleaning and just gonna get it mobile and running so i can at least drive it a little while i do the cosmetics. Ive been posting my progress on the 67-72 facebook page so Im sure some of you have seen it there. Anyways here are a couple pics.

Welcome to the site!

Get it cleaned up and running well. Drive it for a while and get to learn what your true likes and wants are with this truck. Many times people get too invloved with large projects and then lose interest or sight of their orignal intentions were.

Congratulations on getting married soon! Include your significant other in the project to make it a family project. That way you will not have competition/time issues with the new wife!

Keep us up to date on your progress and we all like to see lots of pictures!

Re: New to the boards! With a 70 Swb

Congrats and welcome! As someone mentioned above, get it running right first.

When I bought mine, even though I was about to tear it down to every nut and bolt for a frame-off, I still did some minor repairs and drove it around for a week or so first. And the board member I bought it from delivered it the 20 miles or so to get it here, so I knew it ran.

Re: New to the boards! With a 70 Swb

Congrats on the buy and the upcoming marriage. Try to see if she might want to get involved with the truck build as well. My wife is a school teacher so she has some time off during the summer, she saw that the local vo-tech was having a night class so she decided she wanted to take a auto-body class to learn some so she could help out around the shop during the summers.[I own a body shop] I wouldn't let her do it alone and then our daughter at that time 16 she joined in and we made it a family thing. It was so much fun. I'd be glad to help you out if have questions and can read through my long posts. Today I was scolded about my improper use of capitalization and paragraph indention but it is in the program I have tried to change and have not been able to. It doesn't bother me just that other guy I guess. He blasted me about well not important, if you need me I'll be glad to help. Jim
