Junkyard scores. Cool analog phone and 2 quartz gauge clusters!!!

So I went to a local yard today to see if there was anything I could use for my '79 k10 project. I quickly found a few things that wet my whistle.

2 instrument clusters both with great circuit boards and both with the quartz clock. They came out of mid to late 80's model trucks/burbans. A cool mobile phone out of the 'burban by cellular customs. A jack stand, cool "retro" plate, and the complete air filter assembly for my LS swap.. All for under $100!!

I'm really curious on the phone. Does anybody have any information on them? I'm guessing it's either a dealer or special optioned truck if they came with those phones. Won't work now because it's analog but I think it would be cool to have.

This cluster has a couple of broken pieces around the housing... nothing that I can't fix.

This other one is in great conditon.

Both circuit boards look great.

I don't even know what this thing is but I grabbed it because it looked important. There was a 1978 silverado with all the options you could imagine and it had one so I figured why not grab it lol.. had some steel line hooked to the back of it.

Complete air filter system with MAF sensor.

WITH a brand new air filter!

And last but not least. The coolest thing I found all day.

I think I got a pretty good pick today. Definitely has been the best batch of finds I've had this year.

The phone was put in long after that truck was built. The other thing is an old school brake controler also aftermarket.

That's what I thought about the phone. It must have been professionally installed because everything looked clean especially the wiring behind the dash.

Funny how people get excited about different things. Only thing I would like out of that pile of stuff is the old Chevy paper plate. Even if I were doing an LS build, the stock intake parts would be tossed... and is there really any value to the quartz clock clusters??? Not trying to pee on your parade, this is a genuine question.

I was looking for a clock a while back and they run about $50 on eBay. Also, it's kind of hard to find clusters in which the printed circuit on the back isn't mutilated. So I would say its a pretty good score.

The phone is a nice conversation piece.

True, the printed circuits de-laminate and the contacts lift all the time. My gf's 81 Z28 had a real horrible one, all the layers where separated so the cluster didn't work at all - tossed that circuit since I built a custom cluster.

LMC wants like $80 just for the printed circuit, so if you're getting clusters for $20, thats a deal! When g-bodys were still showing up in yards around here, I would find a tach cluster every once in awhile and buy it for $20, and they sell for anywhere between $80 to $150.

Re: Junkyard scores. Cool analog phone and 2 quartz gauge clusters!!!

I got 2 of the clock gauge clusters myself from my parts trucks I got when I started building my 4x4 project. Pretty soon I plan to clean 1 up, and accidentally rotate it back to 000000 then install in my truck.

My friend used to work for Ericsson back in the 90's. He said they were 3 watt phones. It's got a battery pack but it was wired to the battery so it didn't need a charger.

Yeah I loved the chevy plate. Wasn't charged for it so it'll be put on the truck. I've been looking for clusters with the clock/tach. It's taken me 2 years of looking just to find 2 clocks back to back in one day. As for the stock intake, these engines make power stock and since I'm going for a restomod look I figured I'd grab it... it's essentially a cold air intake.
