M1009 or similar rims?? [cl ad, not mine]
This guy is selling an FJ with what looks to be 15x8 steelies but I can't find ANY that look identical. The outer part of the rim looks different than any M1009's I can find. I really want those wheels either way, just curious.

There were many different wheel manufacturers. The factory wheels were Kelsey-Hayes. each has their variations, but any with 3 hubcap nubs is not designed for disc brakes and won't clear the calipers

That is interesting. I've seen the deep steelies before but didn't know the brake and three nub deal. What would they have come on?

If you look at original wheels on '70 or earlier wheels they are all 3-nub. In '71 when discs came out the wheels changed to 4-nub. The other wider wheels were aftermarket. The 6-lug Jeep vehicles and Japanese trucks would run the wide steel wheels. At first,if you wanted to run a wide tire steelies is all there was.

Im almost ready to say those are Toyota FJ 15x7 factory wheels. Almost...
High center in the hoop kinda gives it away. |

Steel smoothies have inside nubs for derby style caps, not the outside nubs for dog dish style caps. They also have solid centers, whereas the other wheels have the centers with the breaks between the center and the outer rim.m

I just noticed how special that picture was...wide wheels (that's what we called them),Armstrong Norseman, and the Warn Loc-O-Matic hub. That was once a nicer FJ.
