Chrome impact strip question

On my 98 I have the original impact strip all the way around the truck in excellent shape except for the chrome. Its yellowed and is starting to turn black. I ordred a front bumper strip new from LMC last year. The chrome lasted about 4 months before it starting cracking everywhere, and now 1.5yrs later the entire "chrome" strip is coming off as its just a freaking vinyl wrap. What a waste of money....

So now I'm left wondering where to get good quality replacements? My other thought was on the side strips, its not the actual chrome fading out, but whatever they had covering it for protection, some kind of plastic or something? Wondering if there is a way to remove it so I can see my shiny chrome again? I like the strips and keeping my truck semi-stock looking.
