SSTIM or others

My 1971 spid shows option Z84 custom sport truck. The Chevrolet book said Z84 was a Cheyenne. Was there a custom sport truck in 1971? HELP

Re: SSTIM or others

I was told that '70 top of the line was a CST and gm changed to Cheyenne super to replace CST for '71 but was slow to change the spid's so early '71 supers were labeled Custom Sport Trucks till about mid year. My '71 says Custom Sport Truck on the spid.

What hdff said. Remember, this was a human at a typewriter, as long as they got the Z84 correct the wording doesn't matter. You see wording changes from shift-to-shift and plant-to-plant.

Re: SSTIM or others

Thanks guy, I'm researching my option 626 parchment interior, and I needed to know what body style I had, so I know what bench seat cover goes in it

Re: SSTIM or others

In 71 many Cheyennes were listed on the SPID as Custom Sport Truck (Z84). Supers were listed as YE9.
Likewise many 71 big blocks that were 402's were listed as 396's.
I think the transition on the SPIDS lagged the actual model year changes.

Re: SSTIM or others

You go by the RPO code. The CST (Z84) name was dropped and changed to Cheyenne in '71. The SPIDS still read CST,for whatever reason. They also still called the 402 a 396. Cheyenne Super (YE9) was a new fourth and highest level of trim added in '71. The Custom (Z62) became the Custom Deluxe in '71
