74 Blazer ignition circuit always hot

My 74 Blazer keeps blowing the ignition fuse. The circuit is hot with the key off. The truck has been converted to HEI. The ignition swith and neutral safety switch are new. I disconnected both and still have power with the key off. I tried a different starter solenoid I'veand disconnected the pigtail from the alternator. I've taken the harness off the firewall and have power to a red 10 gauge wire. I have not started pulling the harness apart yet. Any ideas were to look now?

Not exactly sure what you mean. The ignition switch will have a constant hot to supply power to it. If it is keeping the ignition system hot then you would have to unplug the distributor wire to shut off the truck. Can you shut off the engine with the key?

It sounds like he's getting constant acc power.

If that's the case I would start at the switch.

Re: 74 Blazer ignition circuit always hot

The fuse blows as soon as i put it in, even with the key in the off position. I ran the distributor wire directly to the hot side of the fuse holder to start the truck. The wire had to be disconnected to turn the engine off. It sounds like i need to check the wire locations on the ignition switch.
