Full Length Headers with Static Drop

I am currently trying to wrap my build up and will post pictures as needed. I currently have my truck dropped 4 in the back via springs and 2.5 drop spindles and 1 inch shorter spring in the front. I am want to go at least 4/6 to bring it down a little more. I am waiting to get hood and front fenders on to see where I actually stand. Anyway, I am running full length headers and have some concerns about clearance. Just curious as to what you guys are running and if there any ground clearance issues. I hate to go to hugger headers or stock manifolds, it's not that I have anything against them, it's mine are already in...

Re: Full Length Headers with Static Drop

I have Hedmen elites long tube headers, there's no way I could that low without them dragging.

Re: Full Length Headers with Static Drop

I am using Hooker Super Comps with an aluminum headed 454 (496) I also am running a static drop of 4/3 with no problems. Header collectors are real high and exit at about the mid point of the cross member. I also have 73 up clam shells and mounts on factory 72BBC frame brackets

Are you saying that you couldn't do his current configuration of 2.5 drop spindles with 1 inch lower springs with the Hedman Elites? I was leaning towards them for my truck.

Re: Full Length Headers with Static Drop

My long tube headers were about 2" off the ground. Lower control arm was about 1.5" off the ground. I was running 60 series tire up front on 15" wheel. Rear i had 50 series. I stayed with 15" wheels. To gain additional ground clearance I went with taller tires. 235/70-15 in front and 275/60-15 rear. I gained 1.5" to 2.0" additional ground clearance. Hope this helps.

Re: Full Length Headers with Static Drop

I don't know if this will be any help but I lowered mine 4/6 and had Hedman long tubes on it and they hung to low for my liking, I have them in the parts section as we speak. I ended up with a set of Sanderson BB8 for mine with the big block. Put them on last weekend and they are going to work out good. The long tubes scuffed on the floor of my garage when I pulled the truck in.

I think I could do 2 1/2 by 4, But that would be about as low as I could go.
