They're little star looking things. It's a touchy subject on here.

Most likely the cab has been changed. It's just another part, the VIN just happens to be attached to it.

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

vin rivits are often called rosebuds.
they are not round, took ten years to find out ,this vin was not correct, for this truck.
I would want it documented.
Police told me
"make sure it's legit,or you can lose it,on the side of the road, with contents,
sure you get your stuff back, when you prove it's yours".

the stamped cowel number should match everywhere, speedo back too
vin numbers on the doors too

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

The truck belongs to me. I have several of these square bodies & 67 - 72 trucks. I know the correct rivets for these trucks. I have sold several trucks to guys who are members of this forum and they have seen many of the other trucks I have. I'm the one who sold the 2000 mile truck to Joe Junk. There are quite a few members who live in the Wichita, KS area who, I'm sure, would be willing to come check it out and verify.

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

So why is he here asking us about vin rivits?
Maybe if his rivit pic could be bigger/clearer then it can see if there is an altered issue.
I've seen pics of rivits filed to appear correct.
The gentleman asked out of concern,
and I answered his question because I have dealt with an altered vin.
Something this site doesn't condone or like to hear/see because it's illegal.
But thanks to others helping me on this site, I have learned what else to look for.

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

I guess hes asking because the truck is probably high dollar and he wants to make sure its factory not something someone pieced together.

I'm not out to cheat anyone. I did let him know that I was confident enough that this truck that should he "buy this and find out that it has been tampered with, I will buy it back and pay all of your expenses. I'm that certain that it is correct."

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

I think this question has been answered. I would appreciate that it not turn into a thread that becomes a peeing match. I can see the points that both sides have made and I don't think there is bad intent on anyone's part here .. If there are any further constructive comments please leave them otherwise lets consider this topic answered and let it rest thank you

Re: 79 C-10 vin rivets???

Harley thanks for the pics on here much clearer shots of the rivets. That clears up my questions. Also comforting to know ur on these forums. I had no intent of any illegal rivet or legal rivet conversation I was just trying to verify a truck I was looking at based off of one pic I had. Now I just have to decide if this is the one I'm after or not. Been looking for a couple of years for a 1/2 ton 454 C-10 and I restore things back to original so I'm trying to get over the yellow color lol.
