home made gas tank
Here's a pic of my gas tank. I had a shop make the breaks, but I welded it together. Had a few pin hole leaks, but zapped them and it held the same aire pressure for about five days so I think it will work. I didn't weld the fill spout in at this point cause it was easier to get a real good pressure test without it. I have since welded it in and installed sender unit.

Yes, I made it to fit and fill the whole area between the frame rails on a short bed (at the rear of course). If I have calculated correctly it will hold about 26.8 gal.

71sub, no I just took measurements between frame rails and fore and aft and with some planning took those to the "iron works" with what I wanted. They did a fairly good job but I had to take the lower piece with the upswing to another shop (closer to home) for some tweaking. Any good iron shop can help you alot. Oh, by the way I've got about $75 in this in shop work and iron. And its heavy guage. I don't know the guage but the thickness of the material is right at .10" That's not too far from 1/8" and that is thick for a gas tank!
