Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Installing 1963 Impala SS steering wheel on my 1971 C10 column. I have all the horn and horn-ring pieces but I can't figure the order they are installed onto the steering wheel.
Does anyone have an exploded view diagram of these pieces? Or can you tell me the order they are installed onto the wheel?
Thanks

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Pretty sure the metal disk goes first, then the metal cup, the plastic insulator, then the screws.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Don't know if it's correct but my turn signal switch has a brass button sticking straight up which contacts the bottom of the steering wheel and makes it blow as soon as I put wheel on.
The plastic piece pictured would work because it has a brass ring on the bottom which would contact that brass button and not cause it to blow unless the contact that goes in its long tower were pushed down to contact ring. However the Impala wheel can't go down far enough to mesh with splines on column shaft.
Is there another setup, even if its a different turn signal switch, that would make the Impala horn usable?
Thanks

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

I put a 61 wheel on my 71 tilt column. Never could figure out how to make the horn work. Can't decide if I'm missing a part or what. Mine looks the same as the 63 shown. Someone must have the answer.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

The piece in your third picture goes on the column first, then the steering wheel, then the horn contact parts in the order in post 5. I have a 64/65 Chevelle wheel on my truck now, fits fine, horn works, so there should be no reason your impala wheel will not fit the splines on your column

The plastic piece pictured above is missing the spring and contact "nipple", which fit inside the skinny tower sticking up.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Shop manual, assembly manual, and the Haynes manual for that year all show it. At least that's where I looked. I have paper copies but they're online somewhere here.

From memory, the copper tube poking out of the signal assembly is indeed the horn contact has listed above. Then the plastic piece goes on with its copper or brass side facing the copper post. Plastic post goes into steering wheel. Steering wheel goes on, then washer, then nut. At least I think.

I've left out the little spring because you don't picture it, but there should be one.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

The steering wheel sets on top of it next, and looks like this when installed.

Yes I realize that. I know there is a spring under that metal pin, but what holds it in the plastic sleeve?
Thanks for the help!

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Here are the three parts in the "tower" of the cam. There is a spring, a pin, and a retaining sleeve that slides over the pin as shown.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

The spring is placed inside the tower first, followed by the sleeved pin. The flared end of the pin is inserted down, and retains the spring inside the tower.

Re: Need help installing old Impala steering wheel

Finally, use your finger to push down the assembly, forcing the sleeve below the lip of the tower, you will feel/hear it snap in. Release, and the assembly is locked in place.
