Trans hump sealer
I have a high hump that I need to weld the hole where the old shifter came through since I swapped to an auto. Figured it's a great place to learn how to weld in patch panels. Anyway, what is used to seal around it? Just seam sealer or something else? And what kind of seam sealer do you guys have good experiences/bad experiences with? Oh, and any idea as to what gauge metal that piece is?

I personly might try buetal tape or windshield sealer like they used in the 60's and 70's to put windows in. It comes in 3/8" and 1/2" round rolls and just put it on the outside edge of the hole and overlap the ends together by 1/2" and then bolt the floor back down. It will mush down as you bolt it and give you a water tight seal. But that's just me.the metal should be 18 or 16 guage with the age of these trucks. But don't hold me to that.

I agree with chevy6guy9. You want the seal to be able to be broken should you need to remove the hump again. Some seam sealers will make that very difficult. I use 18ga on the floors.

Look around the classifieds on here or on Craigslist, took me 2 weeks and I got 2 shipped to me one with the front section.dont give up someone has one they'll sell ya

I was thinking about that black foam seal stuff that's about 1/8" to 1/4" thick by 1 inch wide.
It sticky on one side and comes in a roll of so many feet.

I think that's kind of like camper shell tape. I think if that stuff gets wet it's going to act like a sponge and then you'll have water in the floor, or a leak.
