Can anyone advise what oil pan comes on the Chevy Performance LS3 430hp crate engine? Is it the pan from the new Camaro or the new vette? Seems like I recall where someone dropped this into a 68-72 truck and was able to clear everything with no issues. Anyone else using this pan and able to confirm?

I know for a fact that the 2010+ Camaro pans will not work. Not sure about the vette pan. I used a 2007 Cadillac CTsV pan on my truck and suburban.

The engine you linked to are not the same part number as the "LS3 430hp Crate Engine" in which you reference.

Your links pertain to 19301326, while the engine in question (at least from what you provided) is 19258770 from GM. I would suggest confirming what engine your actually looking at/for. Its plenty possible they come differently equipped.

In an even more confusing twist of fate, the 2014 catalog refers to the LS3 crate being equipped with the "Chevy SS" oil pan, which is anyone's guess what they're referring to. The all new Chevy SS 415 HP sports sedan? Camaro SS? Trailblazer SS? A factory stockpile of pans from the now defunct Silverado SS? The factory pan from the 5.3L L33 (Impala SS)?

Don't shoot me for saying this, cause I'm not a dick. I'm just guy shedding light on a very broad subject. With all the different oil pans, and motor Mounts, mounting placements, and adapter plates, just about any oil pan can work or not work. It all depends on the sum of parts that equal the whole. Hart rod, I would love to use your ctsv oil pan but I'm trying to lay frame and the placement, the way I view it, the ctsv pan isn't for me. The holley 302-1 is my best option. My current truck pan fits, it hangs about 2 inches below the cross member. I used swaptech adapter plates, stock engine mounts, and the stock engine towers are placed in two holes closer to the radiator support. My advice Eric8 is to get the engine, buy your mounts, adapter plates, engine towers or whatever else you need and sit the engine in the engine bay. Take some time to decide where you want the engine to sit. Other things like engine and tranny position, the idea of using your old drive shaft, using the stock ac compressor will play a part in which oil pan you'll need. Eric8, there are so many variables. Eric8, be smart and think smarter. Shipping parts back & forth can be pricey.Good luck with your swap. Clark.

When the right oil pan is sourced, are there any "tricks" to R & R the oil pan?
Clearences-torque. gaskets, 'O' rings pick up tube etc.

Hi solidaxel, if you install it in the chassis with the trans bolted to the engine, you will need to put the oil pan all the way to the rear as the backside is flat and completes a circle on the rear of the engine/trans as an assembly. Another words when the trans bolts up to the engine the back of the pan and the back of the engine are a flat plane. This prevent flexing under load and helps with noise, vibration, harshness, (NVH) because it keeps the trans/engine centerlines in line. There is a torgue sequence and torque value procedure that should be followed also. Good luck, Brian Fuller

Well I think I'll just go ahead and order the GM "muscle car" pan and be done with it. For a little over 100 bucks one can't go wrong.

I have a LS3 376/480hp crate motor in my garage. Its a stock replacement from the 2008 corvette with the GM hot cam. I would have to dig out my paperwork for PN and such, but I can try and get a pic tomorrow...

hey eric8, have you recieved the muscle car oil pan? im interested to see a comparison of the two oil pans. i have pics and measurements of all the oil pan discussed but the information is very conflicting. if the muscle car oil pans has the same shape of the truck oil pan minus 2 inches in the drop/lowest depth area, ill buy two oil pans. im really considering the holley oil pan so i dont have to swap it and buy it twice. clark.
