swapping a turbo 350 to a 2 spd powerglide with kickdown linkage.
Hey I'm from the 60-66 forums and I have a friend who is looking to swap a turbo 350 to a 2 spd powerglide. Don't ask why he just seen this as a quick fix in place of spending 1300 to fix his current trans. Need some advice and pics or diagrams to help aid it. Thanks y'all.

Confused. Is he putting in a 350 or a Powerglide? What vehicle? What year?

It's a 73 c10 short stepside. Has a turbo 350 mounted to a 350 Sbc right now but is swapping transmissions to a powerglide. Just need some advice with the kickdown linkage and mounting difference to the frame etc etc.

Don't think me insensitive. I know you said not to ask why, but.... Why? Don't get me wrong, the Powerglide was/is a good transmission. I just wouldn't go to one unless I was building a seriously hard core race machine. Even in a stock truck I wouldn't install it without rebuilding it first. Has your friend thought about rebuilding his transmission himself? I know it's a scary thought. I'm going through the same fears myself as I start my first rebuild on a 700R4. However, it IS doable.

Before you start raging on me because this is a "Youtube" video, just watch it with your friend and see if he thinks he can do this. It's in 9 parts and is a very detailed TH350 rebuild.

Re: swapping a turbo 350 to a 2 spd powerglide with kickdown linkage.
Nah it's all good man. Just a long story. My buddy and I are military and with our pay it just takes a while to afford toys we want. I pulled the 2 spd out of a 65 c 10 for another friend on the 60-66 forums and he doesn't want it and the one with the 73 has a chattering noise coming from the t350 trans. His rig was built but the trans was more than likely out the door. He has a Ford 9 inch rear and yeah you can see where this is going. Lol.

you could prob sell the pg to a racer and come out with enough to get a th350.

Thank you, both, for your service.
There's a guy here named clinebarger that's our resident transmission expert. IM him and ask about rebuilding the 350. It may not be as expensive as you think, and you'll end up with a better transmission then the powerglide. Not to mention a new skill. lol

I'm pretty sure the lengths of the Powerglide to Th350 are them same cause I'm swapping in a Th350 from the powerglide.

Re: swapping a turbo 350 to a 2 spd powerglide with kickdown linkage.
Thanks badaz chevy guy. Well he's hellbent on putting in that 2 spd. Laith I looked and it's only an inch and some change in length so it's a drive shaft difference in length off the tailshaft if he has a 6 inch tailshaft on the th350. Bolting is the same but my main question is how to mount the kickdown linkage to his holley 4bbl.

Look and see if this is the correct linkage on your transmission. >>> http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...55csm0737.html

Yeah I looked at that link up above someone posted earlier. Not much in length by inches.

Here's another pic. Maybe a little more detail?
