Core Support Mounts

So, I've got a full weekend planned of working on my 84 C10 - rebuilding the control arms including ball joints & control arm bushings, new inner & outer tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, and removing the front brackets on my sway bar & replacing the sway bar bushings.

I'm also going to be replacing the body mount bushings with some black Prothane mounts that are coming in the mail today. The cab mounts are pretty straight forward. My question is getting access to the radiator core support mounts. I've taken a quick look, and I can't seem to locate access to the bolts. It looks like the bolts pull out from the top, per the LMC catalog diagram. Do I need to remove the fan shroud or grill for access?

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me to make this go smoother. I've already done a search and there are pictures I've found of the cab mounts, but not the core support mounts. This information also seems to be missing from my Haynes manual.

Thanks.

Re: Core Support Mounts

You need to remove the grill for access. They are in a boxed channel that has an access hole in the front. The bolts are usually very rusted and should be replaced if they are weakened.

Re: Core Support Mounts

Thanks, Mike. That helps a lot!

It's funny that you say they should be replaced. I just got my delivery from LMC that has all of the bolts for the cab & core support mounts.

I hope that replacing these bushings will fix the 1" height difference between the front driver's side and front passenger's side fenders.
