Upper alternator bracket BBC pics?

Can anyone post some pics of their factory BBC upper alternator bracket for a '68? The issue I had today while replacing the alternator belt was I ran out of room on the upper bracket slot to properly tighten the belt. I want to make sure that the PO didn't change out the upper bracket. I've got the correct belt replacement, its just the slot in the upper bracket isn't long enough to get the belt tighten, its slipping & making one hell of a squealing noise like a cat is caught in the fan blades!! I have the smaller diameter pulley on the alternator, not the larger diameter pulley.

Re: Upper alternator bracket BBC pics?

I have a couple of not so good pictures. I just replaced the alternator belt on my big block. The belt that the book called for would not tighten up at all before I ran out of adjustment. I ended up buying a shorter belt. I think it called for a 1450 and I ended up using one around 1400. Hope this helps.

Sounds great! That's what I was looking for. I am having the same problem. Just wonder what changed over the years that the belt the book calls for doesn't even fit now...... Ill have to check to see what belt NAPA sold me and what the puter called for & see about getting shorter one.
