Post dual exhaust/ headers?

I have a stock 350 with quadrajet. I plan on doing dual exhaust sometime soon. I passed inspection, so I could save up my pennys for headers, but if I'm not changing anything else yet is it worth it? I have the stock rams horns now.
I really don't want to cut things to get them in either. Anybody have experience with ones that fit in a 71 C10?
Later on, I plan to get a mild cam and a set of heads, but because the exhaust is rusty now, it gets the money first.

You wont have to cut anything besides your old exhaust to get a set of headers in. I have a set of non-coated Heddmans on my truck, and i like them OK. Summit sells them for $104 i think. To hook them up, cut off your old exhaust around where the collector will end when the headers are on, and take off your ramshorns. Then bolt in the headers, and take them to a exhaust shop to have them welded to your current exhaust if you aren't getting a new system yet. If you dont want to get headers, you should proably stick with 2" exhaust, because the exit on truck ramhorns is only 2". If you get the headers, 2 1/4" is plenty bit, 2 1/2" if your engine is hopped up a little bit. Good luck!

Cool

Brennecke...
Me think that headers are the best bang for you buck for adding horsepower. I have Thorley headers but their a little pricey. Fit was perfect and I have a set of series 40 flowmasters...I like the sound. You don't have to get the most expensive header but don't get the cheapest either. Remember...You get what you pay for.

Just a 3 weeks ago I put a new system on my 71. I used my ram horns with 2 1/4" pipe into a flowmaster Y and out of it with a single 3" into a flowmaster delta flow 50
and out single 3". Love the sound not to loud (or) quiet. It has more low in torque that you can feel. This is what the guys at Flowmaster said to use with a 300hp 350.
I tworked for me. Just my thoughts.

I know this will sound like a dumb question. but does those prices (the $104 and 79) is that for 1 header or is for both sides?
