Brake Bleeding & Slotted Rotors
Curious if anyone has tried EARLY CLASSICS speed bleeders...ITEM # 5B51624/ 5B3824..The design claims that it has a check valve you open the bleeder. then you just step on the brakes the valve open allows the air to bleed out when you allow the pedal to return the check valve prevents additional air in the system....
....Also Slotted disc's do they or cross slotted offer any benefits?

I haven't tried the bleeders, but crossdrilled rotors are supposed to help cool the rotor. I am not really sure what slotted rotors do. Probably something like that.

Slotted roters help the hot gasses excape, so you don't have brake fade.

I tried some speed bleeders from NAPA, they did not work at all. They wouldn't seat right and bleed past the threads. As for the rotors, even though you don't really need the slots or crossdrilling becuse your not going to be on them every minute so there really not going to get race car hot, they are cool and you might cut a few feet off you 100 to 0 distance.

All it takes is ONE friend to help you bleed your brakes....
I don't trust anything short of an eyeball to know for sure that nothing is coming out except brake fluid. Start at the wheel that is farthest away from the master cylinder (right rear, if your steering wheel is on the left), and work your way to the left front.
I like the looks of the slotted and cross-drilled rotors, although I think the cross-drilled look better. It's just money....of which I don't have nearly enough.

Personally, i let my brakes gravity bleed. Some times they will need a kick to get started, but that is only once out of 10 times. I never believed it untill I started doing it every day.
As for the rotors, I can't speak for the slotted ones, but the cross drilled ones like to crack by the holes. |
