Question 82 blazer EMISSIONS

I hate this emissions stuff and have a question. I have decided to stick with the quadrajet and pass emissions with a legal carb but I have a question regarding a hot air choke? The carb looks like an electric choke but there is a diaphram thing that controls a flap coming off of the passenger side exhaust manifold and it plugs into all of the vacuum hoses. Is this just part of the A.I.R system or what. That is what I am thinking.
Secondly, headers for A.I.R is always listed 83 and up but the damn Blazer (I'm sure it's an 82) has it with the tubes coming out of the exhaust manifold. Anyway, should I buy the close to 400 dollar A.I.R headers or drill and tap regular headers for those tubes?
Thanks,
Sal

I answered one question by going to this site www.cybrrpartspro.com. thanks to the person who posted it.
I would still like info on the headers if anyone knows.

My 82 Blazer did not have the AIR system. Could yours be a California truck? You say you think its an 82. Post the Vin# and we can decode it. Is it a 2wd? If so, the last year they made 2wd is 82...

Edelbrock TES #6827

Edelbrock says its for
C-10 / 1979-1980
1500/2500 / 81-87
Mike (Swervin Ervin) has the same ones on his '85.
I bought a set of these headers off ebay for around $100 less then Jegs/Summit.
I have a manaul trans and hope I dont have a problem.
One nice thing about these headers is they have welded-in a.i.r. tubes, they should never come loose like the stock bolt on.
My entire passenger side is not hooked up right now, but I have to get the exhaust installed before the end of Sept. I have to go for emissions.

Been through or going through a lot of the same issues.

"The carb looks like an electric choke but there is a diaphram thing that controls a flap coming off of the passenger side exhaust manifold and it plugs into all of the vacuum hoses. Is this just part of the A.I.R system or what."

I think what you are describing is the EFE (Early Fuel Evap. Valve).
I believe it is an emissions control part, but also helps with warming up the truck in cold weather. Either way you do not need it here in Arizona for cold or emissions.

The EFE is located on the passenger side. Mounted between the exhaust manifold and the y-pipe (crossover pipe). It should have one (i think only one) vacuum line for opening and closing it.

Eddie is correct. I know alot about emissions now b/c I live in the emissions state. My EFE vavle doesn't work. I tried replacing the tubing to it (they now stopped producing that hose so don't break it!) but I think it is the sensor. Muy truck gets warmed up plenty fast now so if you don't need it to pass an inspection, toss it. Post the VIN so we can decode. We can tell you where it is from and what state.
