Technicolor GM movie projector
These were used in dealerships in the 1970's to show prospective buyers videos of different models. It played an 8mm cartridge. I bought a new bulb and got it to light up, but I never could get it to play right. $50 + shipping.

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
Since you didn't get it to play right, I'm assuming you also have film cartridges. If it worked I would be interested. I have three 8 cartridges that I would like to play and see what's on them. I'm considering converting them to digital but that's gonna cost.
If I motivate, maybe I'll put a posting together to see if others are interested and I can share the expense with other members and ship them copies. -Jim |

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
Dont know if you have COSTCO there but they transferd some old 8mm film to CD for me and it was under $20 for 2 small reels. Check out what it would cost to have it done I'd be willing to split cost for a copy if cheep enough I'll pay for your copy

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
well here is the unfortunate with these projectors. I have one with a tone of 70's tapes and my friend has one too. they have a small gear inside tha turns to mush. we have talked to someone and have been trying to get one 3d printed. its been an on going process for a year now but hopefully we will get some made and we can let you guys know.
hey jimh2828 are those for the 67-72 or later trucks??? I have the projector and screen that went to this and always wanted to set it up at a car show with the truck. |

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
I bought them years ago under the impression that these 3 videos were for 67-72 trucks, but I don't know for sure. The dates are not indicated anywhere on the box or cartridge. There are some date codes on the back, pictured. I included the ruler so everyone can see how big they are......pretty funny in today's digital world.

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
bigrigpardo, if I get them converted and the cartridges are not damaged in the process, I would likely sell them to you for your car show movie setup.........being that I don't have a projector to even play them.

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
By the way, let's not forget JQ-72 is trying to sell this projector. I hope someone picks it up and can repair it back to it's glory.

Thanks, Jim. Here's mine. I hopefully will find a way to get them in DVD form.

Re: Technicolor GM movie projector
Here is my collection. I have 140 tapes and a player with the gear problem. Believe it or not when I got the projector recently, it played two tapes before the gear went to crap (it is in really sad shape now). The two tapes I watched were very interesting, it is fun to see how the dealers were promoting and selling in the 70s.
bigrigpardo... If you get gears made I would be very interested in getting at least a couple of them. I am also trying to find somebody that can recreate them (3D printing is probably the best route to go with these). |
