A/C available from the factory on big trucks?
This seems to be an elusive question when I searched it, but were you able to get A/C from the factory in the 67-72 big trucks?
I personally think not. Anybody know? Just curious, probably never gonna put it in my truck, it has wind wings. |

Re: A/C available from the factory on big trucks?
Anybody got interior pics of these factory A/C trucks?
I started driving OTR in the 70's and have never seen one. Only the crappy aftermarket rooftop units that leaked water all over your arm while you were shifting gears. I guess I should clarify, I'm asking about road tractors, not medium duty trucks.

Re: A/C available from the factory on big trucks?
On my C50, there appears to be ZERO room in between the radiator and the grill/front sheetmetal.
So I thought to myself, "that'd be a hell of a fit for A/C"? Then I thought maybe they never offered it on anything larger than C30's. Come to think of it, I've never heard of a vintage medium or heavy duty truck with factory A/C. so I then thought I'd ask you guys. It makes me wonder how anyone might do it aftermarket, because you still have nowhere to put the condenser. I'm not even interested in installing A/C, merely curious. Thanks for all of the replies. |

Re: A/C available from the factory on big trucks?
A while back someone here scanned in and posted some old sales literature for the 67-72 medium duty trucks and it showed available a/c but it was an under dash unit that looks identical to one that came out of my buddies 71 c10, and that one was a dealer added option (they bought their truck new).
With that in mind I know it is possible and I need to figure out where to mount the condenser because I do plan on adding a/c to my 68 c50. -Richard
