Anyone have pics of 9.00 r16 on their 4x4?

Saw some 9r16 super tractions and wondered how they look on 72 and earlier trucks or suburbans.

I think thats what they are running on the truck in the promotional video but would like to see them on something later.

I don't see 9.00s around any more,but I got 255/85-16s to get pretty much the same dimensions...in a radial. The first picture is a set of all seasons I ran years ago on my '92 K3500. I put them on again last fall (Cooper Discoverer S/Ts),then they went onto my non-lifted '72 K2500 this spring. Me and some buddies used to run 9.00s in the late-70s and that's what I've come back around to

Those look great!! How did they clear on the 72 with no lift? I see in the GM literature there was a 9.5 16.5 offered, that size I cannot find.

I've ran the old Power King 9.00 x16s on several trucks and even a Blazer, I really like them. The farmers and ranchers around here used them on there 1 tons cause they got around so good....as long as your going forward! They don't do well in reverse. Make sure whoever mounts them knows they are a directional tire, and I never did run tubes in them and never had any trouble.

I had a Detroit locker in the rear and a Trac-Loc in the font of that old 1 ton Stepside with 4.56 gears... It was unstoppable in deep mud or snow.... But really kinda scary on hard packed snow or ice.

Great comparison pics. If I ever wear out my 33/12.50-16.5s (not likely at the rate I'm going), my best replacement choice is what you have: 255/85-16s, probably on Ford 7" wheels. Same height but narrower. Nice.

Yep they measure a true 34", I had a 4" lift on that truck and the Dana 60 front added almost another inch.

9.00R16's (Michelin makes them for the military) cross over to a 255/100R16 - taller than a 255/85 by a full two inches.

The tire I would love to run is Michelin's 8.25R16 or 235/100R16. The only problem is, they are only available in europe.

THIS PLACE has a tubeless 9.00x16 that is 14 ply. I kind of want to try a set but I don't have any chains to fit them.

Those tires look like the Power Kings and Regul Trailblazers. I think they are all the same tire under different names. Universal Tire,a vintage tire co. like Coker, had a set of Trailblazers on display at an antique truck show I was at last year.

The 9.50-16.5s are a shorter wider tire,basically a wide oval profile...a whole different profile. I offered up the 255/85s because your title indicates you're looking for radials and I don't know of any 9.00 radials ever made. These 255/85s don't rub and my truck sits lower than stock. The front springs are very negatively arched. Not much room to stops. I've been sitting on a 6" lift/37/12.50 Super Swampers I was going to install on a truck I sold. The plan has been to put all that on my '72 just to use it. I've come around to preferring it not so big,but figured I'd wear them out,then sell lift,install shorter one,and smaller tires. Well,now I've decided to just sell that stuff and lift less. It's hard to tell what an xx" lift would do since I'm not sure how much lower than stock I am now. I have a set of 9.75 Hurricanes and a set of 9.75 slots,so I want a wider tire for those to switch around. Now that I see Rob's Stepside I think I'll be good with 4"

Sorry to cause confusion by adding the "r", I still seem to have VW tires on the brain as I was used to ordering the 165r15 back in the day. I actually do like the 255s you posted and will probably go with a radial in the end since the 9.00-16s look like they need the lift to fit on my 72. As you mentioned as I get older the big lifts/tires dont seem as appealing as they did when my back and knees were younger.

I will probably end up with a set of the 7.50-16 power king super tracktion "meat grinders" on the rear of my 65 Carryall to compliment the posi and help with highway rpm.

Im sure I will run the 9.00-16s on my 59 Dept of Labor long bed Chevy as they look like they will fit with no mods.

The picture isn't very good, but they don't look to be unidirectional to my eye.

Any problems with them being out of round?
