Got the 67 out yesterday

The weather was so nice last night I decided to go for a short cruise, and found a photo spot. The truck has been running for about a month now and it's good getting some seat time in. There were times I wanted to set this thing on fire, but it was worth it. One of my best friends helped me out a couple times a week with it for the past few months, many thanks to him.

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

Yup,everything about it. You did it again! And I know you drive them. Good move with the chrome reverses, nice touch. Speaking of nice touches, steering wheel. That's a blue '60s (Chevy) car wheel, right?

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

Thanks guys, the truck isn't finished but good enough for the rest of the summer until I recharge my batteries. I think I have the dual carbs dialed, the thing runs like a champ.

Tim, the wheel is an old blue three spoke metal flake wheel. I picked it up off eBay. It's not a Superior 500, but I think it may be a late 60's Grant from my research.

That's a perfect touch for that era mild custom vibe you have going on. That's what I have going with my '67 project, only nowhere near as far along as yours. I can't wait to just get it drivable. What are your plans with paint?

(...dual carbs,ay? Hmmm,just might reconsider...)

I had my painter look at the truck, he's convinced he can do a faux-tina job on the bed that'll match the rest of the truck. Plans for that are this winter around the first of the year. Also going with 3.42's and a posi this winter. The truck has 4.11's now and it's just too much gear on the interstate.

I can't wait to see yours all together.

Thanks! The fronts are 225/70's and the rears are 275/60's. The fronts are less than a 1/2" shorter than the rears, plus they're narrower than the 245/60's I usually run, so they don't bounce around in the ruts on some of our roads out here.

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

I was hoping you'd say that on the paint. I tell you,3.42s are great for these days. Tolerable for hiway while keeping the grunt. Then,if you add overdrive they are ideal for that, too.

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

The truck is looking real good Chris. That's the look.
My first set of custom wheels were chromed reverse many, many years ago. I've always loved them. They are so "period correct" as they say.

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

I really appreciate the kind words guys. It's funny, I always have people who aren't into old vehicles ask me when I'm going to put wheels on it!

And my truck has a 5-speed in it, so it's begging for a gear swap!

Re: Got the 67 out yesterday

This has to be the most dry Colorado truck I've seen, there's a little rot on the pass rocker and cab corner, but that's it. The bed floor is the nicest I've had for one of these trucks too...and I've had a couple.
