Bed Mount fuel Tank

I bought a Blazer tank from Brothers to install under the bed - had it a long time before I got around to installing it. The tank fits nicely between the frame rails, but it doesn't clear the cross braces for the bed. Upon closer inspection, it appears this tank has a knot (a raised area) across the front of the tank that dips down to supposedly make room for the bed, but misses the distance it needs to be back by about an inch. Has anyone had this happen before? My solution is to notch the bed support and make room - but I would rather not cut it if there is a better way. Suggestions?
