Finally post some pics and B.S.

I have been on here for awhile, have had 4 of the 88-98 trucks over the years. I love the way they run high miles and the way they look. I had bought a 90 sport new,put 275K on it . I then started running down to Tejas for a road trip/ vacation and have bought the last 3 that way.I do not like to fix rust ,so thats the reason for not buying one locally.I bought this 98 in Dallas last fall for under $3000,never been wrecked 142k miles 305,OD.Even the air works.
It went in the garage over the winter ( I drive a P.O.S. car in the salt and snow.)Sold the original wheels and tires and bought the sport wheels ,new Coppers on them and a 4/6 lowering kit. I removed the side trim this spring ,just purchased the Step Shaver kit to do this winter.
There is getting very few of these in the upper midwest that are not pretty well gone from the rust. I may try to drag another one home this fall and stick it in the storage shed.
Thanks to the folks on here that have answered all my dumb questions, and thanks to 1BADGMC for all his help.
I tried to post some pics but it says a security token was missing ???

Sounds like you have a plan. I'm interested in seeing what your working with. Usually the "security token was missing" happens when the pics are to big. Try resizing them smaller before you upload them.

Looks great.

Where did you purchase your step shaver kit?

Re: Finally post some pics and B.S.

Ebay,it was out of Virginia I think ,but made in Mexico. There seems to be two different vendors that show up on there, one seems to want $200 for theirs ,the other gets between $100 and $150 according to the bid. I was in no hurry and stopped bidding at $110, it took several auctions and about a month before I won one.
I am wanting to do a "how to" complete with pics when I put it on,probably this winter. Looks like trying to hide the receiver hitch behind the license plate may be a job in its self.

Nice truck. Looking forward to your progress. I started to mention that you might want to be careful with those taillight covers, until I noticed you had already posted in the other member's thread about getting a ticket for them.

Did you buy your tires locally or online? I'm thinking about a set of Cooper's for my rally wheels.

Re: Finally post some pics and B.S.

I bought the tires on-line, Discount tire. They were considerably cheaper than locally and they had a rebate .
The tail light covers are going to go . Funny story ,my winter car is a Old Cadillac,it just won't stop running despite getting crashed and beat on.I have thought when it goes to the crusher I will keep the tail lights and put them on a truck . Well the last truck didn't get them and now I have the step side so I don't know if they are worth saving or not. I have not seen anyone put them in a step-side, maybe I should be the first.

Thanks. Yeah, I've bought from Discount Tire online before. They're hard to beat sometimes. Did you buy the road hazard certificates? That's my only concern. I never bought them with the BFG's I got from Discount Tire back in the day, & luckily I never had any mishaps. Buying locally allows me to have them serviced locally without extra charge if there's an issue. Of course I guess it would have to be a chain retailer & not a local tire dealer, otherwise that wouldn't be valid when we eventually move.

Good idea with the Caddy lights. What year? Pretty sure I've seen them on a stepside but will have to find some pics.

Re: Finally post some pics and B.S.

Another funny story, yeah I have about a million of them. When trying to buy tires locally I ran into well meaning salesmen who wanted to know the vehicle they were going on ,them wouldn't sell them as oversize.
I logged on to Discount tire via ebay and they went right thru. I don't know if oversizeing is a insurance issue, a government issue or just corporate policy.

Luckily I haven't had that issue yet. They've all just quoted the sizes I asked for. However, I have seen similar instances with online retailers where they ask what it's for. I just ignore them in the fact that they're not factory correct replacement sizes.
