Re: WANTED: near mint tailgate for trade

Im interested in your gate Bruce . Wish I had a light blue for you. A 1963 gate will be a slightly darker, you need a 64-66 I think for the color. There was a member here at the auction last year who bought a light blue take off, thought he posted it on here ?

I also have no trade. Is the tailgate still available? PM me if it is and what you want for it.

Re: WANTED: near mint tailgate for trade

Bruce
Thanks for the email on the Lambrecht truck. I agree with you 100%

Do you have this saddle tailgate and is it in near perfect take off condition? I am painting my 66 Chevy short fleet with truck paint code 555 soon. I was working with the PPG paint rep on original paint formulas from the 66 Ditzler chart in the Dealer Ordering book for 1966 for the saddle and Ivory trim colors. I actually bought 4 individual pints of their PPG crossover paint formula in base clear this last week. But I think the new gold is more of a driftwood color and not the simple gold that I remember my Dads new 66 was.
I have a couple of take off gold mirror arms but a whole tailgate if it was stored away from the sun would maybe be color tested with their equipment for mixing and tinting a formula to duplicate.
Anyway, I have stashed away a perfect original paint new take off 65/66 light blue gate I got some years back. I was saving it to display in my shop someday and it is absolutely a GEM. If the gold gate is as nice I think we could probably work something out. Thanks, Mark

Re: WANTED: near mint tailgate for trade

Sorry Mark, the saddle gate went awhile back. Your blue take-off gate sounds great, maybe even a little too nice for my needs. PM coming.
