65 Motor Swap

So i picked up a real nice 65 LWB custom cab and BBW truck. (Pictures to follow). It has a 350 and manual tranny on the column shift. The motor has no intake manifold or valve covers and i dont know how long it has been sitting but the last signs of life I found was a 1985 sticker. So I pulled the motor out and when i pulled the oil drain plug i filled up an entire oil drain pan with WATER! No oil came out. I have another 350 that is ready to go so i plan on dropping it in. I want to check the condition of the 3 speed before I bolt it up to my other 350. I don't really wanna take it to a shop. The shifter linkages on the tranny do not shift freely. Also, the truck has a crossmember that runs just below the tailshaft of the transmission but it was not bolted to it nor resting on the member. I will get some pics up here this evening. Thanks Yall.

Re: 65 Motor Swap

If the crossmember isn't for the tailshaft mount, its probably the ebrake crossmember. Pics will help identify it.

Re: 65 Motor Swap

I agree ^^^^

If the truck still has the original bellhousing and it's acompanying crossmember, you do not need one at the rear of the trans.
