Need photo of swb 4x4 frame
This might sound like a dumb request, but I couldn't find any frames looking through the build forum. Reason I ask is I wonder if I am missing a cross piece on the rear of my frame. My frame is pretty bad, but I repaired it with new metal, but want to be sure I don't need to do more repairs.
This is it when I bought the truck and after repaired and then primed

Yes, you are missing the rear cross member. Should be about 3-4 inches or so from back frame tip. Trevor

Re: Need photo of swb 4x4 frame
Ok, thanks. I have some 2x2 square tubing so maybe I'll attempt some type of repair.

Id do something a little more rigid. That crossmember is what keeps the frame from twisting at the hangers.

Thanks for the photo. I didn't realize I was missing such an important piece. I doubt I could find a donor piece in my area, so maybe I could fab up some type of 'I' beam to span that space.
I sure wish I had examaned this truck mor closely before dumping $1500 on it.

Re: Need photo of swb 4x4 frame
Upon further examination of my frame, it is strange that I don't have holes or rivets showing where that piece initially was? I think I can make something similar, using some 1/8" think steel I have. I'll use a 4" piece for the vertical, and 1-1/2" for the top and bottom horizontal, then make the triangle braces. I'll probably just weld it all in though rather than bolts/rivets.
I do have the one rivet doing nothing at the 5 1/2" mark, so I'm assuming that would be the center mark for my top horizontal piece

Re: Need photo of swb 4x4 frame
In all honesty my frame is a 2wd leaf spring chassis. The 4wd may have had a different crossmember there but it was there and served the same purpose. My pic was to show you what it does but you get the idea. Lots of guys build their own crossmembers so whatever you build just keep in mind what function Iit serves and im sure it will work out fine. here is a 2wd coil spring rear crossmember. The 5-1/2" is the top center rivet hole.

I found more pics. Most of the ones I found show a crossmember like the one above for the 4X4 frames. Yours does have the holes for that.

Yes they do, thank you. Are the three holes on the rear, side for the bumper brackets? Also, is that hole on the top rear to bolt on the bed? I pretty much replaced the rear portion, so I'll have to re drill the necessary holes
