67 with a bone stock 283
Im thinking about doing some mods to my motor. Its a bone stock 287 with a street fire HEI distributor and hedman headers, stock Rochester 2 barrel carb. i think id like to put a cam in it to make it sound better. any suggestions on cam? will i need new heads? will i need any machine work done to the motor? im not trying to get extreme with it, cause the motor only has 50k original miles!
any suggestions are greatly appreciated! |

Re: 67 with a bone stock 283
If you want to keep running the 283, you could throw on a 4bbl intake and carb, put in a mild cam, and headers and you'd have a nice little power plant. You can probably find everything you need used on cl. Edelbrock sells the intakes that keep the oil fill tube at the front to stay more of a stock look. I'm dropping a 283 bored .030 over with 4 bb intake and carb and mild cam. Or just save the money and drive it.
