Cab Mounts

I am in the process of replacing the cab mounts on my '70 C10. The washer that goes between the frame and upper bushing does not allow the new bushing to seat properly. Can anyone tell me what they did? Did you not use the original spacer? Did you replace it with a normal flat washer? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Cab Mounts

Those are the crappy imported bushings. Buy USA made ones. WES

Re: Cab Mounts

That used to be molded to the old bushing. You dont need that particular washer anymore. When I switch to urethane I have never had those fit. I just dont use them. The urethane doesnt crush like the rubber does so if you measure it the thickness of the new bushing without that washer is about the same as a new rubber one with It. Maybe I have always been wrong but I buy those black urethane bushing kits at summit and use them without that washer and 10-12 trucks up to this point never had any problems.

Re: Cab Mounts

If I was using just the bushings I used everything but those locating washers. If I bought the whole kit use what I need to to get the gaps correct. I always keep all the washers and shims from the ones I take out because more often than not I end up having to shim somewhere to get the bed to cab gap even or get the fender to door gaps correct after changing them. I dont think ive ever been able to put a set of mounts in without having to do at least a little alignment. I will admit I have never bought an american made set like classic heartbeat mentioned but I grew up in body shops, my old man was a body and paint guy for 30 years and we pretty much always had to shim gaps when changing old mounts so I always figured it was part of the deal.

Re: Cab Mounts

You may or may not have to shim like Oldtruckfanatic says. These trucks are over 40 years old so I would expect that. However here is a picture of our made in the USA cushions. Compare those to the cheap imports and tell me what you would rather have on your truck. Good parts mean less problems. WES

I wish this post was here two weeks ago, before I bought a complete kit from LMC. I even did a search for a complete kit and nothing popped up.
