Question My Cab Is Toast

Soooo...I'm looking for a new, mostly "rust free" one on the cheap. It's for my '79 but what other years would work with minimal work? I'm assuming the '73-'80 cabs are all relatively close. Or am I wrong? Any help would be great.

Re: My Cab Is Toast

The location of the VIN tag is different. 73-77 have it in the door jamb. 78-80 have it on the dash under the bottom of the windshield. Other than that I don't think anything else is different.

Re: My Cab Is Toast

You want 78-80 for it to be perfect. Up to 83 will work for the dash, but you'll have to weld up the holes for the hood hinges on the cowl/firewall. There's a writeup on how to do it somewhere in the forum.

Not to question but my 78 has the vin on the door jamb? Is it possiable its by manufacturing plant? I have seen where others say 73-77 ChucksChevy says 73-78 also. Just curious
