Question about dash lights

Okay, I have a question about the dash lights in 64 to 66.

Does the green temp light stay on all the time? Trying to get the dash hooked up properly and the green light is staying on.

Also the gas gauge bounces or flicks when the blinker is on. Basically the gas gauge moves with the blinker.

I have seeen the alt gauge move with the blinker .but not the temp gauge . The light does not stay on only with the light switch on . Check to make sure you do not have them switched alt and temp

No the green light does not stay on UNLESS it is cold..... unplug the sending unit (there should be 2 wires on it) and see if it goes out if not then you have it hooked up wrong OR there is a short in the wire from the sender to the dash ......if when you pull he wires and the light goes out AND the engine is up to any kind of running temp the sender is bad ......... as for fuel gauge check all the grounds

The light staying on and the fas needle moving with the blinker are two separate deals.

I wasn't sure about the cold temp gauge. Don't really get what it's for and didn't know if it was supposed to stay on.

cold light don't really do much I just like it ...kinda looks cool and they just don't use them any more ....I had a kid working for me I thought he was going to wet himself when he seen the RED bow tie high beam indicator (63) all he had ever seen where blue and no bow ties LOL

The cold engine light is handy for trucks in frigid climates. Gives you an idea of when the engine is warm enough to put into gear without the fear of bucking and also lets you know you can turn on the heater without being hit by an Arctic blast.

Good to know, thanks. I live in South Louisiana so as you can imagine......it never gets that cold.

I thought the temp light came on if the engine over heated.

There's 2 dummy lights, one to tell you the engine is too cold and one to tell ya' it's too hot. Nothing worse than waiting for that cold engine light to flicker out on a cold winter day.

the red "HOT" light does when it is hot the green cold light is on when it is cold

We were able to get it to go off. Now it comes on when you crank it but goes off a little bit later.
