The new muffler

The 20-year old Flowmaster fell apart, so last week I cruised 30-miles to my old fashioned country muffler shop and he said he would order a replacement.
What I figured would be an aluminized Flowmaster, ended up being a stainless Magna Flow. Several more dollar$, but an exact fit and identical shape to the old FM.
It has a nice tone and of course is quieter compared to the loose guts rattling around inside the old one. Maybe mileage will improve!

Here is the old one, for reference:

Re: The new muffler

They did a great job. Fwiw, Flomaster is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Maybe send the old one to them and have them send a replacement to keep on the shelf for next time?

What fuel tank are you running? Everything looks great under there.

Re: The new muffler

Thanks for mentioning the warranty.
Looks like only a FM stainless is lifetime.

"Lifetime Limited Warranty applies to Flowmaster’s stainless steel mufflers, stainless steel exhaust systems and stainless steel exhaust kits.

Three Year Limited Warranty applies to Flowmaster’s aluminized steel mufflers, aluminized steel exhaust systems, aluminized steel exhaust kits, exhaust tips and other non-race exhaust accessories."

I figured the fuel tank was stock for a panel. The fuel door that protects the filler is something I always liked.

Re: The new muffler

that is a stock panel/burb fuel tank
rare as hens teeth, no one remans them
would be great for replacing the stock truck tanks

The tank has suffered a few dents, but I have had no problems in the 3k miles I put on her in the last two years.
At first I changed the two fuel filters every 500 miles, but now only every 1000 miles.

I like that it's mounted inside the frame rails.
