Crate engine warranty question?
From every thing I have read, if I put a 260 hp engine in my 71 I only get 1 year warranty...but if I put the 290 hp engine I get a three year warranty? Anyone know if this is the case..

Re: Crate engine warranty question?
I know the one year warranty on the 260hp is completely accurate. I bought one this year, and called GM to ask about the warranty as it is advertised with a three year warranty. The only way to qualify for the three warranty is if the vehicle was originally equipped with a V8 and the vehicle the new engine is going into is not past a certain age. Our trucks exceed the age requirements.

Sounds like a crappy deal 2 me, but that's just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Crate engine warranty question?
On a lot of GM crate motors even if the truck qualifies the warranty may only be 1 year if it is not installed by an authorized shop. The details are in the fine print and crappy deal or not that's just the way it is. The way I see it any warranty is better than nothing.
