Tie Rod Ends

I'm working on a 1948 GMC 3/4 ton. Has anyone installed the newer style tie rod ends on a 3/4 ton pickup? What did you use? All I seem to find are tie rod ends for the 1/2 ton pickups and the aftermarket suppliers say they won't fit the 3/4 ton trucks.

48 should have the style that later trucks use on them. They should look like modern 3/4 ton but just s little smaller in the threads I think its 13/16-16 where later is 7/8-16.

I have put late model end on a 3/4 , 1 ton but it requires a new tie rod and reaming the tapers larger to fit the bigger taper end. ES26R and ES26L should be the number

The Moog catalog shows the same ends for 3/4 to & 1/2 ton. ES29R & ES29L.

NAPA has them for my '54 3/4 ton. Shows they are the same for a '48. For whatever reason the right is $5 more than the left.

Thanks guys. I went out this morning and checked the 48. It has the old style with the screw-in cap in the end, like the old Model A's. That is what I want to get away from. I checked out the Moog site and looked at the ES26L. Now, what I see is that the ES26L is threaded on the outside and the tie rod itself is threaded on the outside also. So I will need to get a couple new tie rod ends and a couple of those newer style clamps that connect the tie rod ends to the tie rod, measure carefully and cut the tie rod down and re thread the ends. Does that sound correct?
