Shift lever for a '70 query

I'm needing a shift lever to cut down. I have a smaller steering wheel and the original lever gets in the way when I reach for the wipers. I don't want to cut the one I've got. My questions are... are they year specific? do they differ from auto to manual? do they differ from tilt to non tilt (mine's non tilt), are there alternatives from other cars that fit? Where might I look for one??

Appreciate any help and info guys (and girls) and thanks in advance.

Re: Shift lever for a '70 query

I've heard that a seventies Chevy van shift lever is shorter and seen some guys use them on their trucks.

Re: Shift lever for a '70 query

Thanks Scott.

Seems the shorter ones are for tilt columns.

I also have the issue of finding some-one willing to ship to Oz.

Can anyone tell me if this one might fit a 70 auto non tilt?
