Cool Charlie Brown Day

Ever have one of those Charlie Brown days?

I finally got a Friday off with no chores and all of the family out of town, so I thought I had a long weekend - just me and my truck to really knuckle down and get to those larger "projects" that I had been putting off or never has enough consecutive time to tackle.

First thing on the list was to repair the window regulator so that I could reliably roll my driver's side window up and down.

Currently it jumps out of the gear mesh so it takes three times as many turns as it should to go up and down! Not a big problem I thought, probably just a loose screw or something that could be cured with a shim or two.

So this week I read up on the mechanism itself and thought I would try to fix it in the door before tearing everything out - plus I would have had to had purchased the $50 regulator and I was too cheap for that!

So as I sat there with the door panel off and started feeling around on the backside of the regulator (through the ridiculously small opening), I felt a slight pop and then felt the window start sliding down but at an angle! Yikes! What had I done?

After a few panicked minutes I realized the whole mechanism had probably been held together by only rust and and a prayer for years. And just as I was able to finally get the glass back in the right place - ah yes the rain started.

So now I just placed the order for the regulator and have to rethink the weekend.

"What else do I want to break today?"

Hahaha! That's how it goes sometimes, I was expecting you to say the window broke when it dropped. Be glad that didn't happen too.

Re: Charlie Brown Day

my drivers side window rolls up and down fine. but when it is down it rattles around inthe door bad. this is why we drive old trucks so we will never run out of things to do lol
