Drain holes in the dash?

Today it was pouring rain here and my "new" truck was dripping water all over the floor from under the dash, so I was alarmed, when I looked around I found a drain hole up on the top right at the winsheild, there is one on each side of the truck. Are they supposed to be there, it doesn't seem that water is supposed to be running in the truck and through the dash.

My truck has the same holes (I suppose you mean on top of the dash, near the bottom right and left corners of the glass), and the PO put a new windshield in but I guess he didn't seal it well, so mine leaks too - right onto my glove box

My truck has two "slits", one on the left and one on the right, right at the glovebox o/b edge. It looks like a seam opened up or something. Apparently my windshield leaks cause the first time I washed it, it leaked at these two seams onto my carpet. I haven't washed it since.

Check your roof drip rails in the front (outside). Mine leaked in the same spot until I siliconed the roof area. You can get silicone in a caulk tube at Home Depot. They also make some stuff called lap seal, avail. at RV dealers. It's a little more ridgid, and you might be able to touch up with some kind of paint.

if the dash is dry it would be leaking from the cowl.

I fought a small leak on the floor board of my 68 for years -especially after hard rains. I sealed up every opening I could find. Finally found the leak was coming from the windshield washer motor rubber to firewall seal rubber seal. I used silicone gasket sealer and no more leaks. Check that also.

The dash is not dry, that is where the water puddles and goes down that (drain?) hole. The drip rail is filled with what looks like seam sealer and is all cracked, I don't have access to another stock truck so I have no idea what this is supposed to look like.
