Im getting the exhaust done on my 2wd Blazer. It is getting a 4/6 drop. I am using shorty headers and I want to run the exhaust up between the frame rails. It looks like going through the rear auto cross member is no prob. but what about the cross member behind that. Its the one that the trailing arms mount to. Do I have to cut holes through it. It looks like it would have to be inside the trailing arms. Outside has the emergency brake mounting points. If I cut holes how big do they have to be for
2 1/2 pipe and do I need to use mounts like they used on Copperhead. If any body has done this I would like to see some pics and some guidance.

Okay. Before anyone post and tells me Im nuts I meant to say inside the frame rails is the only place to cut holes.

Sorry I can't help you out with pictures but I ended up doing the same thing as they did on Copperhead. I did take a different approach though. I took some 1/8 inch steel flat plate and welded those plates on the crossmember. I ground the welds down and blended the plates into the crossmember. I then drilled a 3inch hole. (via a hole saw) The 3 inch gives room to run the 2 1/2 inch pipe through there. 3 1/2 will work too. It also helps with the upward bend of the exhaust as it comes close to the bed. I made carbon copies of the ones on Copperhead too. I did call Early Classic and they would have made me some but they knew I had access to a Bridgeport so I got some tips from them on how to make them. This really isn't all that hard but if you don't have access to a mill then just call them and ask them to make some for you, i'm sure they will.

I've got to do the same thing with mine. I've got full length headers now. and they are a little too low to the ground. here's a pic,
