lincoln 220 welder

After finding out that I could not weld very well with my oxy-acetylene torch I decided to put a bunch of my dune buggy parts up for trade for a welder. A guy said he has a 2 year old lincoln 220 welder and I was wondering what kind of cash value this might be worth. Also, would this definitly be something that I could teach myself to use to weld body panels easily?
Thanks for your help
brad
