eBay listing, not mine.

Looks like a good deal for someone.

Oh my...a '68 with a big block and 3 speed.
While not original I am sure, that could be a good truck to have some fun with.

Wish I was closer...I'd buy it and get the fender painted and leave it alone...

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

Well, I drove to LA today to look at it because the guy said that it runs great and in good shape . He said that he has no $$ and just needs to sell something and he has quite a few things for sale. For the price I figured that I could not loose so I rented a large car trailer and drove 5 hours one way there.

It ends up not running very well and has a knock in the engine when you rev it up. Could be wrist pin? The wiring is in very bad shape and leaks oil from many places.

Looks as if it has been ridden hard and never put away. Anyway I told him thanks but no thanks.

I really only wanted it for the engine and trans. I was going to sell the rest. But it was not worth my time.

So today I drove around 660 miles total, spent around $250 in fuel and trailer rental. Lesson learned I guess. If it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is.

Just thought that I would update everyone on the post.

I guess it could happen to anyone. At least you didn't buy it first and then find out.

One of the best things to do is watch craigslist. That truck has been on there in one form or another for a very long time. When they have been re listed umpteen times it's a pretty good indication the truck is over priced or not worth the time and money to fix.

Agreed to this point. I would have been watching Craigslist if I had been actively looking for one but it just happened to be posted up and it is what I wanted but not really searching for at this time. Sometimes you just run across things and the timing is just right. Guess it was just not meant to be on this one.

No biggie, just wanted to inform anyone looking at this post the actual condition of the truck if they were interested.

Also just hate it when someone tells you that what you are looking at is great to get you to come look at it. Even when they know that you are going to have to drive so far. No hard feelings against him though. I wish him the best of luck selling it. It was just not for me.

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

I am not saying that I am not upset about it but I am not going to dwell on it. I could go on Craigslist and report it as misrepresented I guess. It is on me though as I know how things like this happen and I was concerned in the first place about driving so far for an unknown.
I have to take responsibility for my part as I do live by the rule "do not believe anything that you hear and only half of what you see". I just took a chance and it did not work out this time.

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

Sorry to steer you to a lemon, Terry.
Not my intention, the ad was going to draw me in as well, but as stated earlier..
I have no more room.

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

I like how he says he's amassed a huge number of bills in his life and needs money bad, so don't offer him any less than his price.

His bills would seem to fall into the "not my problem" category. The truck is worth what the truck is worth. And if he needs money bad, he should be dealing, not demanding.

At least we know those bills didn't go into the truck.

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

Thanks for the update.
Was going to make the trek myself to take a look, but I don't need a headache to store until I have $ to work the problem.

Re: eBay listing, not mine.

You did the wise thing by not buying it.

Spending $250 in gas is cheaper than $1850 for a $500 truck
