Gas gauge problem

Hey I was wondering if anybody knows what is wrong with my gas gauge. When it's at a full tank of gas, my gauge sits at 1/4 tank. and when it is about half full, it's at about 1/8 tank and so on. I replaced my sending unit in one of the tanks to see if that would work but it didn't do anything. It does this for both tanks btw.

Thanks for any help!!!

Re: Gas gauge problem

Bias resistor on the back of the gauge. It either has loose retaining nuts or it's actually a flaky resistor.

Re: Gas gauge problem

A used one from a wrecking yard shouldn't cost much.
