Boyd Tank bed fill location?

I am looking for a measurement for the filler neck center line from a fixed point on a swb frame. Im trying to figure out where it would come up through the steel floor in relation to the bed floor ribs. Thx, D'

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

Use a section of flexible hose and make it come up where you want it.

Measure from the frame holes to know where the fuel filler is on the tank. Measure from the bed holes to know where the filler will be in the bed. No piece of 2" tubing will flex enough more much more than 1/2" misalignment. The tank fill and any kind of gas cap will be almost touching.

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

Its an option. Just need enough room for it to center on a rib. Any idea of the clearance from the top the filler to bottom of bed? (tank mounted on bottom of frame rails). Still looking for flush mount fillers also.......

I have a Boyd tank. I hope the picture helps. You can see the recessed filler door in the center of the fourth board from the left.

Do you have access to the tank to get a measurement from the left side of tank to center line of filler?

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

Thats it!

Confirms what Randy posted above w the wood bed. My measurements showed in needed to be 3 3/4 - 4" to center it on a wood bed slat (as his is off center about 1/2-3/4"). Going to go pull some measurements of my steel floor.

Couple more measurements while you have it around if you don't mind.....neck height and tank width, also is the cap threaded or a twist lock?

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

4 1/2" puts it center of a "low" rib which would allow for this.

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

Cap is a twist lock
Width is just shy of 26.5"
Neck without cap is 2.5"

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

Looks like with mounting tabs down 3" and the neck at 2 1/4" it still leaves 4"+ from neck to bottom of floor. Plenty to work with....

I thank you much!!

Re: Boyd Tank bed fill location?

The bed floor cross sill will have to be clearanced for the rollover vent.
